Durdle Door Holiday Park will always have a special place in my heart, it’s somewhere I have been visiting for 25 years. Admittedly it has been a few year since I last visited. Over May bank holiday I decided it was time to visit and reacquaint myself with Durdle Door.
Durdle Door Holiday Park Review
The location is breathtaking it always was and that has never changed. The landscape along the Jurassic coast is magnificent with so much to offer. If you love to walk, if you love to stare into the distance looking at magnificent vistas you won’t be disapointed.
What about Durdle Door Holiday Park
I was there for 3 nights and stayed in the unallocated part of the campsite called the Rockery. This part of the site is a long thin stretch with a gravel road running through the centre of it. You enter through the north side and drive along to the south side which points out toward the sea. There are 3 camping pods one at the north end entrance and two at the south end.
During my stay it was quiet with only a hand full of tents it was very comfortable with lots of space between tents. As far as I could see there was no electric hook ups in this area. Thee electric hook ups seemed to be in the adjacent field.
Toilet facilities at Durdle door holiday park
There was one toilet block situated by the entrance to the camping pitches. The toilets are of a very high standard proving relative luxury. They were warm, modern and well kept. The water in the showers were of a good temperature and there was enough showers and toilet space for there to be no waiting around.
There were a couple of taps around for you to fill up with much needed drinking water.
The price to stay at Durdle door
I am not going to go into a lot of detail about price. I paid £80 for my 3 night stay. price could depend on time of year and the part of the week your stay is over.
The crows in the trees
One negative were the crows. Every morning at around 5am the crows would wake me up. They seemed to be active through the day and quieter at night. My tip try not to put your tent directly under a lot of nest otherwise you will be splattered in bird poo. I had to spend some time cleaning the poo off my tent each day.
The facilities at the campsite
You get some great facilities I am not going to list them all here just the one’s I used or were prominent to me. There is quite a few positives here. I love the local shop it’s well stocked and you can get most supplies there. I wouldn’t worry if you forget something you’ll be okay. This is a change from when I was a kid and she shop was supplied sparsely. I picked up a fresh baguette and some souvenirs.
There is also a bar which has live music at weekend. I like pool so I had a few games while some chap was singing. I didn’t use the restaurant but there was one and the food looked good from a distance.
